Alter Elbtunnel

The most exciting way from the northern to the southern bank of the river Elbe is the old Elb tunnel.

With a goods lift you get 24 meters down below the river Elbe and then pass the 426,5 meters tube for free and all day long by bike or by foot (cars have a time limit and pay a fee).

The entrance or rather exit are at the St. Pauli Piers and the other way around at Steinwerder.  Here the Hamburg Harbor presents itself from a completely different perspective and many of the famous sights seem only a stone’s throw away: St. Pauli Landungsbrücken, Cap San Diego, Rickmer Rickmers and the modern highrise building Tanzende Türme at Reeperbahn number one.
