The Gastwerk Hotel Hamburg contributes to more sustainable travel, living and working. In addition, our team, is also committed to social responsibility and environmental protection.
We will continue to make your stay more sustainable and to be transparent about our actions.
Below is an overview of the areas in which we are already working to conserve resources and support environmental protection
GreenSign
We are currently working on making the entire hotel operation more sustainable and got certified by GreenSign. GreenSign is the leading sustainability certificate for labelling sustainable hotel operations.
We would like to highlight that we stand for sustainable hotel development and meet the most important criteria in terms of ecological standards, social commitment and economic responsibility.
At the Hotel
- we use recycled and FSC-certified paper or have switched to digital solutions to reduce our paper consumption
- our guests have the opportunity to use one of our 4 electric charging stations on site
- we separate waste
- we prefer environmental friendly and local suppliers and products, wherever possible
- we are constantly trying to reduce our water and electricity consumption
- the entire team follows energy saving tips during working hours
- all employees are entitled to receive a free ticket for the public transportation and have the opportunity to purchase a job bike to ensure a low-emission commute to work
In the rooms
- we changed the lighting in the hallways to LED
- we use refillable care products and do not use small shampoo and shower gel bottles
- we rely on recycled or FSC-certified paper for guest communication or use digital solutions
- we only use ECO cleaning products that are EU Ecolabel certified
- all of our bathrooms are equipped with taps having flow regulators to reduce water consumption
At the restaurant
- we have a zero waste breakfast
- we mainly rely on regional suppliers
- we only purchase fair trade tea, coffee and chocolate
- we have significantly increased our selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes
Community initiative
- our employees take part in a social or environmental project, once every quarter
- various projects to support environmental protection are planned and implemented by our “Green Team”
- we support Hamburg Leuchtfeuer with an annual fundraising campaign
- our employees get regular health and safety trainings
