Our approach
We would like to give you an overview of selected measures and projects in our hotel. These include the use of energy and water, waste separation and reduction, procurement, mobility and our commitment to the local community.
On this page, we show what we are already doing in these areas.
GreenSign
Our hotel is certified according to the GreenSign Hotel Standard at Level 4. The certification covers various areas of hotel operations, including environmental criteria, social commitment and economic responsibility.
At the Hotel
- we use recycled and FSC-certified paper or digital solutions for our communication
- our guests have the option to use one of our 4 on-site EV charging stations
- we operate waste separation systems
- we continuously work to reduce our water and energy consumption
- the entire team pays attention to conscious energy use during working hours
- employees are provided with a public transport ticket by the company and have the option to use a JobRad bicycle leasing scheme to support lower-emission commuting
In the rooms
- We have switched the lighting in our corridors to LED.
- We use refillable toiletries and avoid small shampoo and shower gel bottles.
- For guest communication, we use recycled or FSC-certified paper or digital solutions.
- We use cleaning products certified with the EU Ecolabel.
At the restaurant
- At breakfast, we implement measures to reduce packaging and food waste.
- 73% of our suppliers are based in Hamburg and the surrounding region.
- We source our tea, coffee and chocolate from Fairtrade suppliers.
- We have significantly expanded our selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes.
Our commitment to the local community
In addition to measures within our hotel, we support charitable organisations and social initiatives in Hamburg and the surrounding region.
Through financial and in-kind donations and by supporting fundraising events, we contribute to projects and initiatives in our local community.
Pinktober Charity Concert
Doing Good Together: Charity Concert for the Mammazentrum Hamburg Foundation
As a Hamburg hotel, we support local projects and initiatives. We are therefore delighted to support the Mammazentrum Hamburg Foundation Charity Concert.
The foundation supports people affected by breast cancer, raises awareness and helps provide relevant services and programmes.
The charity concert brings together music and fundraising in support of the foundation’s work. We are pleased to support this initiative and contribute to the event.

Together with selected partners, we work on specific projects and initiatives related to our hotel operations.
Coffeecycle: From coffee grounds to soap
Coffeecycle is a Hamburg-based start-up that uses coffee grounds to produce natural cosmetic products. Reused espresso grounds are turned into personal care products with a gentle exfoliating effect and ingredients such as oils, antioxidants and caffeine. This gives a by-product a new use as a raw material.
Coffee grounds are also produced daily in our restaurant, bar and event areas. Together with Coffeecycle, we collect these coffee grounds and use them to produce our own coffee soap. A by-product from our hotel operations is therefore used again as a raw material.
The cooperation gives coffee grounds from our hotel operations another use and turns an everyday by-product into a new product.
Local honey & food rescue
Regional honey from Ottensen
Together with the Ottensen Beekeeping Association, we offer locally produced honey from Hamburg-Ottensen. The natural honey is available in our Gastshop, at the tea stations at our breakfast buffet and during conferences and events.
Food rescue with foodsharing Hamburg
We work with foodsharing Hamburg to redistribute surplus food from meetings, conferences and events. When food is left over, volunteer Foodsavers collect it and arrange for it to be passed on.
This allows surplus food to be redistributed instead of being discarded.

Sustainability Policy
Our sustainability policy sets out our objectives and the measures we take to implement them. These include energy and resource efficiency, climate protection, waste prevention, responsible procurement, employee development and collaboration with the local community.
The policy is reviewed regularly and adapted to current requirements and standards.
